Does this not get on your nerves? That can't be the final answer because Tech Art shows with their control unit that it is possible to open and close the soft top while driving very low speeds up to 25 Mph. This control unit has one big disadvantage. The USA dealer doesn’t mind to charge you $600 or more + shipping and handling. That fact drove me to check out the original soft top relays and search for a possibility to deactivate speed control and emergency brake. It is not so hard to do, but it has the dangerous disadvantage that it works at any speed. Especially, if the car is driven by somebody else or a maintenance person of the Porsche dealership I feel better if the soft top control unit works like original. By the way, also, the Tech Art unit causes warranty problems. My unit allows switching
between original and MY function without a visible hint of manipulation and
without taking it out of the relay panel. Even by doing so, there is no visible
indication of manipulation like broken off pins. It took me approximately 3
hours to alter the relays, but now I enjoy the opening and closing at low speed
traveling. |
